Neighboring Seminar

“Loving People to Jesus”

April 17th & Repeated on April 24th

9:00 AM – Noon

Location: Mt Olive Lutheran Church, Great Room

Jesus in John 17 prays 15  My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16  They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17  Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18  As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”

In John 15 Jesus says 8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples….16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last…. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

As Christians we are a commissioned and sent people. We are still here on earth, rather than with God face-to-face because God has commissioned us and sends us to be bearers of His love to everyone we encounter. We are to bear/share His love in word and deed in order that people (our neighbors) might come to believe in and know Him and experience the life for which Jesus lived, died and rose again.

Mt Olive’s mission statement is “Loving People to Jesus.” Christian Neighboring is all about “loving people to Jesus.”  This seminar builds upon:

        Scripture!!!

Rev. Greg Finke’s 5 missional questions and 5 missional practices

Steve Sjogren’s, Dave Ping’s, and Doug Pollock’s golf analogy in their book Irresistible Evangelism

Thoughts and ideas from Finke, Bonhoeffer and other experts regarding touching people with God’s amazing love and saving grace

The seminar is designed both to motivate and to equip. The staff at Mt Olive strongly encourages all members of Concordia, Mt Olive, and Resurrection to participate. The seminar will use both mini-lecture and small group discussion.

The seminar is designed to be an in-person seminar. We will be practicing physical distancing and will be wearing masks unless COVID restrictions have changed by the date of the seminar. Therefore, we are asking everyone to pre-register. The seminar will be offered on April 17th, and the same seminar will be offered again the following Saturday, April 24th at the same time and place.
