Called to LOVE + SERVE

At Mount Olive, we believe that God has called us to love and serve our neighbor (vocation). We love and serve our neighbor, not to earn God's love or favor, but out of response to His immeasurable love for us! Brookview Elementary School

Mt. Olive Lutheran Church has partnered with Brookview Elementary School, through Kids Hope USA, to make a positive impact on the lives of children at Beyer. Through Kids Hope USA our members have the opportunity to be trained and paired with an at-risk child in a supportive mentoring relationship. Our partnership with Beyer, however, extends beyond Kids Hope USA and the mentoring of children to being a blessing at Beyer School in a variety of ways.

Volunteers have the opportunity to work with the homeless at the mission. We conduct a worship service and serve sack dinners at Rockford Rescue Mission two Sunday evenings during the calendar year.

We aspire to serve ALL people in the greater Rockford area in tangible ways, in the name of Jesus and with His boundless love. To this end we assemble and send out crews of people FREE OF CHARGE to households that have requested our assistance. This help might be anything from yard work, to painting, to cleaning, to minor repairs, etc.

Call 815.399.3171 to be added to the volunteer list. In being added to the volunteer contact list, you are NOT committing yourself to any project, you are simply stating that you would like to be contacted about opportunities to serve as they arise.

Lutheran Church CHARITIES

We regularly partner with Lutheran Church Charities to provide local (northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin) emergency assistance to families suffering from flooding, tornadoes, etc. This work is most typically salvage work, clean-up, and repair.

Carpenter's Place is a ministry that serves the homeless of Rockford. On the third Monday of each month our congregation provides and serves lunch for approximately 100 people at Carpenter's Place.

There is also opportunity to lead chapel, teach a Bible class, help with inventorying donations, collecting donations, or simply befriending the guests at Carpenter's Place-offering them encouragement and support.

A missional community is a small group that meets to support and encourage one another in loving and serving those in our "missional neighborhoods" - where we live, where we work, and where we play - in our everyday lives. Time together as a missional community is spent supporting and encouraging one another by looking at Scripture, praying with and for one another and as we sharing where we've seen God at work in our missional neighborhoods.
